Design of Base Isolator for Quantech Systems
Base Isolator Concept Invented by Jack Yaghoubian www.quantechsystems.com In museums, earthquake damage to works of art can far exceed the financial damage to the building itself. The Base Isolator protects valuable and irreplaceable objects displayed in museums. The Base Isolator was built and tested on a shake table (earthquake simulator) and demonstrated successfully that the items displayed in the showcase remained motionless even in the strongest shaking. The Kouros Statue at the Getty Villa in Malibu stands on a Base Isolator (image far left). Similar bases were designed for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). To the left is an isometric drawing of a shelf on Base Isolators. |
Floor Base Isolator:
Seismic Floor Base Isolator designed for Quantech Systems and proposed to the J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu, California.
The Floor Base Isolator expands on the Base Isolator concept by placing an entire floor of a room on isolators to protect the contents during an earthquake.

Large Aircraft Hangers:
Trusses are used to create large roof spans for the hangers. The hangers can shelter aircraft with large wing spans including the Boeing 747.
